Radiation Oncologist - Regina or Saskatoon

Population Base

The population of Saskatchewan is 1.2 million. The Allan Blair Cancer Centre and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre provide comprehensive cancer care to those living in Saskatchewan.

About the Position:

The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency is seeking an individual for a permanent 1.0 FTE Radiation Oncologist as a full time Clinical Radiation Oncologist. The qualified candidate will be working as part of care teams, including nurses, pharmacists, radiation therapists, clinical associates, dietary, speech-language, social work, volunteers and other oncology and affiliated physician colleagues. The oncologists are members of clinical trial groups including Alliance, NCIC, CTG and NRG, and are involved in teaching medical students and residents. 

Education:

  • Degree in Medicine with subspecialty training in radiation oncology. 
  • Preferred candidates will have obtained or be in the final stages of obtaining Fellowship standing in Radiation Oncology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have equivalent education, training and experience. 

Experience: 

  • No experience required but considered an asset. 
  • No experience in brachytherapy required but considered an asset. 

Credentials: 

  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. 
  • Must be eligible for membership and privileges with the Saskatchewan Health Authority. 

Other: 

  • Eligible for Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) or equivalent 
  • Criminal record check 
  • Written and verbal fluency in English 

Salary Details: 

A competitive compensation package is offered and will be commensurate with experience. Salary range for this position is $387,661to $500,281, plus benefits. 

Benefits: 

The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency oncologists are eligible for a clinical appointment in the Division of Oncology, College of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. Additional incentives to be determined.

About Us:

The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency provides leadership in health promotion, early detection, treatment and research for cancer. We run two cancer centres, the Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina, and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. Between the two, we give services to around 10,000 patients annually. Our Provincial radiation oncology services account for 2,400 patients annually. 

Clinical hours of operation are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, facilitating a healthy work life balance for our radiation oncology team and other staff.

  • 3 Varian Linacs - TrueBeam 
  • Siemens Confidence CT 
  • Aria RO, Eclipse, Mobius and Velocity software 
  • HDR after loader and brachytherapy suite 
  • established SRS brain and SBRT lung programs with expansion to other sites

Saskatoon Cancer Centre:

Our equipment includes:

  • 3 Varian Linacs – the third TrueBeam being installed 2022. 
  • Siemens Confidence CT 
  • Aria RO, Eclipse, Mobius and Velocity software 
  • HDR afterloader and brachytherapy suite 
  • established SRS brain and SBRT lung programs with expansion to other sites
