Physics Electronics Technician and Application Analyst
About Us
The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA) provides leadership in health promotion, early detection, treatment and research for cancer at our two cancer centres, the Allan Blair Cancer Centre in Regina, and the Saskatoon Cancer Centre. We also provide services in rural communities in partnership with hospitals through the Community Oncology Program. Provincially, we provide services to around 10,000 patients annually and our radiation oncology services account for 2,400 patients annually. Our goal is to deliver safe, person-centric care; we value teamwork and encourage colleagues to work together. Our vision is a healthy population free from cancer, and our more than 900 dedicated employees work hard every day towards this vision.
Being a Physics Electronics Technician
Cancer treatment relies on large teams with a wide variety of skills, including technical skills. Imaging equipment such as MRI, CT and PET scanners and linear accelerators (linacs) are used every day in cancer centres with computer-based systems and applications. This equipment and software require regular maintenance to ensure diagnosis and treatment can be done safely and accurately. If you like working with your hands, have an interest in physics, math and electronics, and want a career in health care, consider becoming a physics electronics technician.
Being a Physics Application Analyst
If your interests are more on the software and programming side, maybe a physics application analyst role would be right for you. The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency is a great environment for putting your technical skills to use and make a difference for cancer patients in this province.
