Saskatchewan Cancer Agency maintains commitment to clients and patients during Canada Post labour disruption
December 13, 2024
The Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA) is committed to maintaining safe, high-quality care for all patients and clients during the ongoing Canada Post labour strike. While the disruption affects regular mail services, the SCA has proactively implemented measures to ensure continuity in patient care and communication.
“Our top priority is the health and well-being of our patients and clients,” said Leah Palmer, Manager, Population Health. “We are taking all necessary steps to minimize the impact of the postal strike on the services and supports we provide.”
Key measures implemented:
- Appointment Communication: Patients will be contacted directly by phone or email regarding existing appointments. Calls may come from a 306 or 639 area code.
- Alternative Delivery Methods: Medications typically sent through Canada Post will be delivered via alternate services, such as Purolator.
- Screening Invitations: Individuals eligible for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screening are encouraged to proceed with screening, even if they have not received a letter in the mail. Information and instructions are available at www.saskcancer.ca/screening.
- Accessing Results: Screening results can be viewed online through MySaskHealthRecord under ‘Laboratory Test Results’ or ‘Medical Imaging Reports.’
Additional information:
- Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) kits should be completed only when mail services resume. People with completed FIT kits can drop them off directly at a lab (i.e. LifeLabs) or store at room temperature for up to three weeks. Any completed kits stored beyond the three-week period must be disposed of, and a new FIT kit will be sent once mail services resume.
- The Mammography Bus will visit Weyburn from January 6 to February 14, 2025, at the Coast Hotel. Please call 1-855-584-8228 to schedule an appointment.
