Our Response to Canada Post Labour Strike

  1. The Cancer Agency normally sends me a letter with my appointment dates and times. How will I know if this information has changed?

We will be contacting patients directly by phone and/or email to support their upcoming appointments or medication requirements. Please note: our phone calls may come from either a 306 or 639 area code.

  2. I am expecting results of my recent screening. Is there another way to see my results?

Clients who have undergone recent screenings can access their results directly through MySaskHealthRecord under "Laboratory Test Results" (Colorectal and Cervical) or "Medical Imaging Reports" (Breast). You can also see the results of your loved one, if they have given you access to their MySaskHealthRecord account.

  3. I qualify for screening, but I haven't received an invitation in the mail. Who do I talk to?

Colorectal screening: If you are 50–74 years of age or older, you should be screened for colorectal cancer, even if you haven’t received an invitation in the mail. Instructions are available on the Screening Program for Colorectal Cancer page.

Breast screening: Most women and people with breasts aged 50 and older should be screened with a mammogram every 2 years. Learn more on the Screening Program for Breast Cancer page and consult the Mammography Bus Schedule to see if it will be in your area soon.

Note: The Mammography Bus will be in Weyburn at the Coast Hotel, from January 6 to February 14, 2025. Please call 1-855-584-8228 to book an appointment.

Cervical screening: If you are 25 years of age or older, you should be screened for cervical cancer, even if you haven't received an invitation in the mail. Instructions are available on our website. wwww.saskcancer.ca/screening

  4. How can I opt in to receive email communication from SCA?

During the postal strike, we may need to use email to provide you with timely access to information, including lab requisitions, appointments, drug information and symptom management.

Before we send you any information electronically, a member of your health-care team will send you a test email to ensure we are using the correct email address. This verification step will require you to reply to our email with a confirmation of your first and last name, along with your date of birth.

    Please read the consent form

    1. If you agree to receive electronic communication, complete the required fields on the consent form.
    2. Give your completed form to a health-care team member.

If you do not agree to receive electronic communication, please let your health-care team know. We will continue to call you with your appointment information and to make other arrangements to ensure you receive lab requisitions and other required paperwork.

Please note that the intent of our request for email addresses is for outgoing communication only.

  5. How might completed FIT kits be affected by the Canada Post backlog?
  • Please be advised that some FIT kits may require re-collecting and re-testing due to temperature fluctuations while in the Canada Post storage facility.

If you’ve submitted a completed FIT kit, watch for a letter or update on your MySaskHealthRecord that will state if your sample was not test-able.
